The True Discipline of
Time Management
This workshop is for right-brainers who have used left-brained approaches to time management with more frustration than success. If you are tired of trying to force your activities into boxes on a calendar and “discipline” yourself to conform to a schedule, but still need a system that helps you stay organized and get things done, then this is the course for you.
In the original sense of the word discipline (from Latin disciplina teaching, learning) it is possible to teach ourselves to work with our unique sense of time rather than against it.
This is the workshop I wish I could have taken when I first set out on my own in business. In the absence of good alternatives, I tried and failed to apply mainstream strategies to how I used my time. After years of trial and error, I've developed a system that works - because it's self-generated. In this workshop I share what I've learned over three lessons:
LESSON 1: Time Management is Self Management
In the first week, we'll explore a simple method of gently observing our own habits and behaviors and develop the specific self-awareness necessary for successful time management.
LESSON 2: What Needs Your Attention?
In the second week, we'll explore prioritizing our activities and practice building our calendars and habits on what is most important.
LESSON 3: Beyond Basics
In the third week, we'll build a flexible schedule on that basic foundation and explore the real relationship between our calendars and our to-do lists.
Participants will come away from this workshop with a personalized time management system that is flexible and resilient, energizing and sustainable, synergistic and satisfying, and in alignment with each individual's purpose and values.
Workshop is limited to 4-8 people to ensure everyone receives the attention they need.
Individual support between classes, an online group for participants and graduates, and a half-hour consultation with me following the course to address individual challenges is available to every participant. Graduates are also eligible for 20% off my hourly fee for continued personal guidance beyond the workshop.
Note: While there are no homework assignments, the workshop requires a commitment to spend a few moments throughout each day to make notes about activities.

Your Business Manual
Business Operations Manual: sounds awfully bureaucratic, doesn’t it? But even creative solopreneurs need to document how they do business. Rather than making it all up as you go along (or continually reinventing the wheel), by outlining your standards, policies and procedures, policies and standards you will be more consistent and efficient in your actions, deliberate in your choices, and focused on your goals. A lifesaver in situations when you are unexpectedly unable to work, your business manual is also an indispensable tool when it comes time to delegate activities to others as your business grows.
LESSON 1: The Importance of Standards
Why and how to establish policies and procedures.
LESSON 2: The User-Friendly Manual
How to document policies and procedures for easy reference in such areas of your business as daily operations, client relations, contracts/legal, finances, and marketing.
LESSON 3: A Living Document
How and when to review and update your manual so it stays relevant to your business.
Participants will come away from the workshop with a clear understanding of their own individual standards, a customized document outlining the policies and procedures of their businesses, and a personalized system for expanding and revising their manuals as needed in the future.

Information Management
Email
A tool we cannot live without has also become a tool we can barely live with. The first half of this seminar explores strategies for taking charge of our overflowing inboxes.
Filing
Papers piled everywhere and just as many strewn about the virtual desktop of your computer? Whether digital or hard copy, in the second half this seminar you will learn how to establish a place for everything and put everything in its place without feeling like a librarian.

Growing Beyond Going It Alone
This workshop is for the solo-preneur in transition. If you are on the cusp of your next stage of growth and have begun to realize you no longer will be able to do everything yourself, but don't know what to do to prepare (and it's all feeling a bit scary - maybe more than a bit), then this is the course for you.
In this workshop I share over three lessons what I've learned from my administrative experience as a virtual assistant supporting other independent creatives:
Building on the information and skills learned in The True Discipline of Time Management and Your Business Manual*, we will examine the relationship between specific activities, our schedules and our income, so we can invest time in our businesses as wisely as possible, and seek out support that will ultimately be profitable. We will then review how to find the right people for the right jobs and begin bringing support into our businesses.
Participants will come away from this workshop with the information and skills needed to make decisions with greater confidence and move more smoothly through transitions in the administration of their business as it grows.
Individual support between classes, an online group for participants and graduates, and a one-hour consultation with me following the course to address individual challenges is available to every participant. Graduates are also eligible for 20% off my hourly fee for continued personal guidance beyond the workshop.
*Note: Both courses are a prerequisite for this class.

Get in Gear Fridays
There are many benefits to be had from eliminating our tolerations. That is, by handling whatever we've been putting off in our businesses, homes, relationships, finances - wherever - we create space for good new things to come into our lives.
Finishing or resolving something we've been putting off, perhaps for a long time, can be difficult to do on our own, but GiGF is here to help!
Every few weeks, you have the opportunity to devote uninterrupted time to eliminating your tolerations - with the humor, support, accountability and momentum that comes from working with a group of like-minded people.
HOW IT WORKS
• Call In
Participants join a conference call from wherever you are, introduce yourselves, share what you want to accomplish, and ask for any guidance you may need - I'll offer some helpful tips, too - before tackling our projects for the next hour.
• Check In
Mid-way through the session, participants call in again to share what they've done so far and get support for the next hour's work.
• Wrap Up
At the end of the session, participants call in for a final time to celebrate victories and encourage each other in work beyond the session.
Any tasks you've been putting off are fair game for GiGF, whether it's that pile of papers on top of your filing cabinet waiting to be filed, vacuuming the floor of your car, writing that letter to the bank, emptying your email inbox, or clearing off the dining table once and for all (now you know some of what's on my list of tolerations). Even small tasks can yield big returns.
Join a GiGF session soon and find out just how great if feels to have made space in your life for good new things - and come back often!
